Mega Upgrades for PlayBox Neo Range
PlayBox Technology has introduced updated versions of its playout and channel branding products, including the AirBox Mega, TitleBox Mega, CaptureBox Mega and SafeBox Mega. Among the upgraded features are SCTE 35 handling and improved user interface.
The Mega version of each product is described by PlayBox Technology Chief Operating Office Phillip Neighbour as “an evolutionary upgrade” designed to make the company’s distribution platform and associated products ready for SCTE35 operations and what might come afterwards. “It confirms our commitment to delivering the most efficient and future-proof playout and branding solutions,” he says.
AirBox Mega adds SCTE features to the content playout system which now supports SCTE35 Triggers reading and generation over IP UDP transport stream SCTE104 Triggers Reading and Generation Over SDI Ouputs for Decklink, AJA, Deltacast. Additional features include MPEG-Dash Dynamic Adaptive Streaming Over HTTP Output, HLS HTTP Live Streaming IP Output, Matroska Multimedia Container (.MKV) Content Supported in Playlist and targeted Time Code Information to specific IP address. Furthermore, the new AirBox Mega has Intel QSV hardware accelerated MPEG2/H264/HEVC decoding and MPEG2/H264/HEVC encoding.
In the new version, there is also support of audio-only content playout, for radio, music and informative channels playout automation purposes and support of encrypted audio and/or video content. The AirBox Mega also now enables Fast forward feature to provide with more time for commercial in 24 hours standard scheduled playlist, for movie channels purposes. Operationally the Grayscale option per output is made available. Overall the system is intended for automated running 24 hours a day, seven days a week but can also be operated by technicians, with capacity for putting programmes into live transmissions.
The TitleBox Mega on-air graphics and character generator has been upgraded to handle a variety of interactive graphical functions, as well as titling. The new version includes many feature improvements as well as new engine presentation – objects, user experience, etc.
PlayBox’s multichannel ingest server, CaptureBox Mega, can provide IP RTMP/HLS/RTSP stream sources, Intel CPU/GPU hardware acceleration for H264/HEVC encoding content and NVidia GPU hardware acceleration for H264/HEVC encoding content and IP feeds.
Phillip Neighbour explains that users with valid Annual Software Maintenance and Technical Support are able to upgrade current products to Mega versions for free: “If they contact us we will be able to analyse their system and advise relevant upgrade options.”
