Playout for ITV
PlayBox Technology has completed a turnkey project in South Africa for the complete playout facilities of a new TV channel. ITV is the world’s first English speaking Islamic satellite television station to be broadcast from South Africa.
ITV is based at the site of the Louis Pasteur Hospital in Pretoria PlayBox Technology (UK) Limited completed the project covering all aspects from the supply, project management, installation, commissioning and on-site acceptance and training. ITV now uses a single-channel playout from a full Technology workflow with a redundant playout system comprising two AirBox playout servers each complete with TitleBox interactive CG with graphics. On the input side, ingest uses a CaptureBox server, with scheduling available via ListBox and DataBox that orchestrates the on-time flow of media from CaptureBox through to AirBox from where it finally manages the removal of old footage. The graphics templates are designed with TitleBox Preparation.
The completed playout facility supplied by PlayBox Technology allows for future growth. The servers are HD-ready and possible expansion of video storage beyond the current total of 1000 hours of SD video already installed, with 250 hours in the CaptureBox and 750 hours in each AirBox.
ITV is on-air 24/7 and beamed from South Africa to twenty countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The footprint covers many parts of the world where it can also be viewed on all free-to-air channels.
ITV aims to showcase the beauty of Islam and the truth with its diverse informative programming of subjects including themes such as health; cooking; spiritual; politics; economics; women and education, and documentaries on science There are studio discussions and debates as well as featuring fieldwork captured worldwide by ITV.
