MTV Vietnam was first launched on 1 July 2011. The 24-hour music channel is managed by the BHD Group whose activities include television broadcasting, film production, game shows, cinema, etc. The Vietnamese version of the famous music channel will focus purely on Vietnamese programmes.

PlayBox Technology has delivered two Channel-in-a-Box servers; one for use as the main playout machine and one for full backup. PlayBox Technology Channel-in-a-Box is a turnkey playout solution for broadcasting a single TV channel. It integrates all the elements needed to keep a channel on-air by combining automation, playout and interactive graphics within one box. It offers video and audio ingest, storage and playout. Playlists are prepared by ListBox on a separate system at BHD, interactive graphics and text presentation can be added and keyed internally or externally using a separate DSK.

PlayBox Technology also supplied three Subtitle Plus servers allowing MTV Vietnam to broadcast international MTV programmes translated and subbed in Vietnamese. A CaptureBox server provides ingest for a range of compression codecs.

The systems were delivered by BMTS JSC which has an established partnership with PlayBox Technology Asia Pacific. BMTS’s focus area is system integration for broadcast stations, post production and distribution of systems and solutions for broadcast video and multimedia.
