The preparation for IBC2010 involved PlayBox Technology booking extra stand space. To make room for number of expected visitors the area was expanded by 30% to 74 square metres – a record size for the company. This allowed room for many simultaneous customer demonstrations around the stand as well as space for seated discussions around tables.
At the very well attended dealers’ meeting CEO Vassil Lefterov revealed the continuing success of the company, with sales beating forecasts for the third year in succession. This showed the increasing strength of the company in the global market, with sustained sales growth through the global downturn.
New product announcements included the AdBox commercials insertion server and EdgeBox remote playout server – both new at the show. It was also the first showing of TrafficBox – built for broadcasters needing TV business management solutions. It has all the features required for programme planning, advertising sales and long-term playlists scheduling as well as for the preparation and on-air presentation of video, audio, text, graphics and subtitles.
Don Ash, Director, Sales, commented, “IBC2010 was the best IBC to date for PlayBox Technology. The extra stand space meant we could better handle all the customers who came to see us. The traffic was more evenly spread than in previous years and we were well set up to handle the middle peak days – Saturday to Monday. There was a great deal of interest in the new products, especially with TrafficBox.”
The most prominent message displayed on the stand was “100% of the functionality at 25% of the cost”. This continued to draw in customers who wanted to know more. The extra space proved its worth with a record number of visitors to the stand.
