IBC, this year involving over 50,000 people, lived up to its reputation as the biggest broadcast show in Europe. While PlayBox Technology was presenting its latest developments, around the 1400 stands at the show there was a big emphasis in networked technology and the almost unspoken use of standard platforms rather then dedicated hardware. The broadcast industry is now turning en mass to the computer industry for its hardware – a place where we have been for over a decade.
On the very clean-looking new stand there was a steady stream of customers taking a close look at our latest products, including Multi Playout Manager. “But for us the exhibition was not just about products but solutions,” says Don Ash, Director, Sales, “People now know that we can deliver excellent playout at an unbeatable price. Most of the time we were talking to customers about their specific needs on a system scale, rather than about individual products.” Also, having our new Systems Architect, Joel Cullen, there at the show meant we could emphasise the entire end-to-end workflow and that highlighted the use of PlayBox MAM. It was a big hit.
UK Sales Director, Ben Gunkel, comments, “This year it was all about projects and this reflects the massive surge in people looking for total solutions from PlayBox Technology – not just one-box sales.” He continues, “The system integrators and distributors are focussing heavily in emerging markets and that’s where we are perfect.”
As for networking, there was plenty operating perfectly on the stand – including at the traditional IBC dealer meeting, which was, as usual, well attended. Vassil Lefterov announced the latest sales trends – including excellent global sales. This was followed by our CTO, Plamen Georgiev, who provided a run down of the new products at the show.
