PlayBox Technology reports strong interest in its range of broadcast channel-in-a-box branding and playout systems among visitors to the September 2014 IBC exhibition in Amsterdam. IBC this year attracted over 55,000 delegates, the highest number of attendees in the event's 47 year history.

"IBC coincided with our 15th anniversary and the delivery of more than 15,000 television playout and branding channels," says Don Ash, Managing Partner and Director, Sales. "A key reason for the company's ongoing success is the inherent reliability of our products, most of which operate round the clock, every day of the year. Secondly the ease with which PlayBox Technology servers can be integrated with third-party devices. Thirdly, their user-friendly control system which gives operators exactly the information and tools they need to perform their assignments. And our prices have always been very accountant-friendly.

"PlayBox Technology continues to innovate with four new products and two major enhancements. Our new SocialMediaBox created very strong interest as it enables content from social networking sites to be packaged quickly and efficiently into a single ready-for-broadcast stream. Comments can be selected and moderated from a variety of different social media feeds, integrating sources such as Facebook and Twitter. This provides as fast and easy was for live television shows to produce auxiliary-screen pages for viewer feedback. The result can be sent direct to our TitleBox character generator for on-air presentation.

"We also demonstrated our new CaptureBox PRO which allows up to four channels of high-definition or standard-definition content to be captured from SDI digital feeds, analogue sources and MPEG transport streams. Ingested content is available for playback within a few seconds of capture commencing. Loudness metering with true-peak measurement allowing audio level monitoring and adjustment at any time.

"Our new ProductionAirBox provides content playout for news, live broadcasts, virtual-studio screens, and video walls. Four independent players are accommodated in a single server with built in aspect ratio and resolution conversion as well as integral support of a wide variety of compressions.

"Also new is TimeShiftBox Duo which allows broadcasters to re-transmit television channels across multiple time zones. It provides all the resources needed to perform accurate time offsets for any duration ranging from 10 seconds to more than one month.

"Major enhancements to our AirBox and ScheduleBox products were exhibited. AirBox provides automated content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends, over-the-air broadcasters and corporate TV users. The enhanced AirBox allows video rotation effects and depth-order laying effects to be performed in real time. Logo animation facilities and expanded audio capabilities are also added.

"The enhanced ScheduleBox allows template-based management of single, or multiple television channels. Operators can select daily, weekly or monthly views and perform programme block management per television channel. Enhancements include nested blocks for easy ad placement and management plus automated gap-filling based on block category."
