PlayBox Technology president Don Ash and the chief commercial officer Ben Gunkel were among dignitaries invited to the 70th anniversary of UNICEF in Sofia, Bulgaria. Under the motto 'bTV and UNICEF Together for Every Child', the anniversary campaign showed the serious challenges to be faced to ensure children's right to access to programmes for early childhood development, early learning and education. For yet another year, many celebrities and public figures joined forces in a common cause: every child in Bulgaria to realise their rights and have a chance to develop their full potential.
“It was amazing to learn how much good work UNICEF has done worldwide and particularly in Bulgaria, with so many projects funded by both individual and corporate donations," Don Ash comments. "For example, in a response to the international outcry of BBC’s production 'Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children', all institutional state care for children with disabilities was transformed to alternative care. I fully admire UNICEF Bulgaria’s efforts to ensure an effectively functioning family environment for children by providing services at its family-counselling and child advocacy centres. I recognise the importance of helping every child and their families as individual units. But most of all I am a great believer that everyone should be able to learn about childhood from another perspective and be inspired to excellence as parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, neighbours and friends.”
"The invitation was a great privilege and the event itself has given me strong personal encouragement for social commitment both at corporate and personal levels," Ben Gunkel adds. "It was a good opportunity to learn about the organisation's work in Bulgaria. For 70 years, UNICEF has protected children’s rights, helped provide safety, medical care, education, and created opportunities for thousands of boys and girls."
