The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is a landlocked exclave of Azerbaijan. The region borders Armenia, Iran and Turkey with Nakhchivan its capital. It is believed that Noah’s ark, probably the height of technology at the time, landed there and now, several thousand years later, PlayBox Technology arrived there too.

PlayBox Technology has equipped Kujtesa with eight new TV channels for its Cable TV network. Kujtesa has started broadcasting a bouquet of channels for its viewers that consists of six film channels named K Shqip, (K Albanian, an Albanian movie channel), K Film 1 to K Film 5 (covering different genres) and two documentary channels that are due to be launched shortly.

It brings in the content from abroad; India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East and Africa and re-distributes it onto platforms including the Dish Network and Direct TV in the Unites States, Bell and Rogers in Canada, and BSkyB in the UK. This rapidly expanding, specialised operation is fine tuned to allow programmes to be turned around for ‘same day’ distribution, or broadcast live.

RCS - Digi Sport is now running multi-channel SD/HD platforms in three countries: Romania, Hungary and Slovakia – all powered by PlayBox Technology.

The first installation was in Romania, where three sports channels, two HD music channels and two HD movie channels have been launched. The sports channels (Digi Sport RO , Digi Sport Plus, Digi Sport HD) are running from three standalone PlayBox playout servers and three PlayBox Titlebox CG systems. All the content and playlists are distributed across the network via PlayBox SafeBox.

One of Turkey’s biggest production companies, IMAJ (www.imajonline.com), already a well-established PlayBox user, is contributing to the TV coverage of the FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basketball) World Championship in Turkey. IMAJ has been supplied by PlayBox Turkey with four SD-SDI and one HD-SDI AirBox and TitleBox playout and CG/graphics servers for the tapeless workflow of the World Championship TV coverage within the broadcast centres.
